7.9% increase in the turnover of retail trade enterprises, in October

It amounted to 3.92 billion. euros, compared to 3.63 billion euro in October 2023

It recorded an increase of 7.9% the turnover in the country’s retail businesses, with the obligation to keep duplicate books and for which data are available on a monthly basis, in October this year and amounted to 3.92 billion euros, compared to 3.63 billion euros in October 2023 and an increase of 4.1% compared to September 2024 which had been set at 3.77 billion euro.

For retail businesses, without the vehicle, food and fuel sectors, with the obligation to keep duplicate books and for which data are available on a monthly basis, the turnover in October 2024 amounted to 1.15 billion. euros, marking an increase of 16.5% compared to October 2023, which was 0.99 billion. euros and an increase of 7.6% compared to September 2024, which was 1.07 billion. euro.

For businesses in the retail trade sector, with an obligation to keep duplicate books and for which data are available on a monthly basis:

The activities that showed the largest increase in turnover in October 2024 compared to October 2023 are:

  • Sale of other motor vehicles (34.3%).
  • Retail trade of sports equipment in specialized stores (22.1%).

The activities that showed the biggest decrease in turnover are:

  • Retail trade of audio and video equipment in specialized stores (11.2%).
  • Retail trade of newspapers and stationery in specialized stores (8.6%).

The regions that showed the largest increase in turnover in October 2024 compared to October 2023 are:

  • Region of Attica (8.2%).
  • Region of Central Macedonia (7.7%).

The region that showed a decrease in turnover is that of Western Macedonia (5.9%).

For retail businesses, excluding the vehicle, food and fuel sectors, with an obligation to keep double-entry books and for which data are available on a monthly basis:

The regions that showed the largest increase in turnover in October 2024 compared to October 2023 are:

  • Region of Attica (18.1%).
  • Region of Central Greece (14.6%).

Also according to ELSTAT, for the small and medium enterprises of the retail trade, with an obligation to keep duplicate books and for which data are available on a monthly basis, the turnover in October 2024 amounted to 1.3 billion. euros, marking an increase of 5.9% compared to October 2023, which had reached 1.23 billion. euro.

For the small and medium-sized enterprises of the retail trade, excluding the vehicle, food and fuel sectors, with the obligation to keep bigraphic books and for which data are available on a monthly basis, the turnover in October 2024 amounted to 0.52 billion. euros, marking an increase of 10.2% compared to October 2023, which was 0.47 billion. euro.
