At 0.5% Food Inflation in Greece in February

This is the lowest performance between eurozone countries

In February the inflation Food in our country – according to Eurostat – closed at 0.5%, which is for another month the lowest performance among eurozone countries (average 2.7%).

As for the Saracostians, prices are at the same or lower levels this year than last year.

Specifically:

• frozen fish (eg cod): -3.1%
• frozen seafood (eg shrimp, mussels, squid): -9.5%
• Bread (eg Lagans): +0.2%
• Other food products (eg halva, ointments, etc.): 0.0%

This development, according to the Ministry of Development, is the result of the continuous effort made by intensive controls and clear rules in market functioning.

The ministry adds that it remains committed to trying to safeguard healthy competition and consumer protection, with the aim of increasing citizens’ disposable income.

In the coming days, the new Code of Conduct for Discounts and Offers will also be announced.

The Ministry of Development’s audit mechanism will be on increased readiness throughout the festive season.
