The interest of many of those who visited the tourist booth was mainly centered around the island’s activities and attractions
The Region of Crete participated in the international general tourism exhibition “Salon Mondial du Tourisme” in Paris, which took place from March 14 to 17, with its stand attracting a large number of visitors. In the same room, at the same time, the “Salon Destinations Nature” exhibition was held, which focuses on walking tourism and tourism of activities in nature. What emerged, according to the announcement of the Region, was that many of the visitors to the kiosk had booked their holidays in Crete, some already for April, while many were asking to know what is the ideal period for someone to visit the island, without many people.
Specifically, their interest was mainly centered around the activities and attractions of Crete, with a fairly large percentage wanting to combine their vacation with hiking. A large increase was observed in solo travelers, mainly women, while several expressed interest in staying in inland villages, where they will have the opportunity to get to know the Cretan way of life and diet, which is also an important parameter in choosing the destination. The traditional treat that was offered gave them a little taste of Crete, while the new promotional posters with images and colors of the island made them dream of their next vacation on the island.
In the context of the exhibition, contacts were also made with representatives of travel shows of popular French television channels, as well as travel bloggers, who wish to present our island to the French public. The Region of Crete was represented by the Deputy Regional Governor of Tourism Kyriakos Kotsoglou, while the participation in the exhibition was supervised by Mr. head of the Tourism Department P.E. Heraklion Vougioukalaki Eleni.
The Deputy Regional Governor of Tourism stated that in a market like France, which always holds the 3rd place in the touristic mosaic of Crete, which exceeds half a million visitors, which is the first Greek choice and highly appreciates Diverse – Diverse Crete, “the Region of Crete she couldn’t help but participate in her biggest public exposure.
