As the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce states in its announcement, shops are allowed to open optionally on the first two Sundays of the regular winter sales, that is on January 19 and 26, 2025, with proposed opening hours on these two days, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. :00.

With regard to discounts, it is pointed out -among other things- that “in every price reduction announcement, the previous price (often referred to as a reference price) on the basis of which the discount is applied is explicitly stated. The previous price is the lowest price applied by the merchant to each of its products during the 30-day period before the first discount was applied on January 13.

It is also emphasized that particular attention must be paid to the observance of the provisions on discounts and reduced prices, with the penalties for those who violate the law providing for the imposition of a fine equal to 1% of the annual turnover and in any case not lower than 10,000 euros.

In the aggravating case, where the discounts are proven to be inaccurate or misleading, a fine is imposed equal to 2% of the annual turnover and in any case not less than 20,000 euros.
