The station’s historic morning news show is expected to be reduced in duration and earlier handed over to Giorgos Liagas.

The discussions between the two sides lasted for several days and in fact the negotiations seemed to reach an impasse at yesterday’s (2/1) meeting. However, on Friday morning (3/1) through his show, Giorgos Papadakis borrowed three minutes of television time to clarify his position and the future situation in the ANT1 program.

“I’d like to tell you something without sounding self-referential or egotistical. All these years here at ANT1 I have won the trust of the station and it is something that I am particularly proud of. Any decisions that have to do with the content or the duration of the show have to do with my own suggestions”said the presenter.

“So for the best operation of the program, I proposed to the station and it was accepted that the show be reduced by 15 minutes from January 7, meaning we will deliver at 09:23. The difference compared to the previous ones is too small”, pointed out Giorgos Papadakis.

“The station has given me the opportunity to suggest options also because of my capacity as a news broadcast consultant. I say this to avoid comments from all those who we thank from the bottom of our hearts who are interested in everything that happens on this show. […] The decision is mine, I suggested it to the station and after discussions they accepted it. I thank them for all these years of trust”, added the presenter of “Good Morning Greece” after his placement.

“Don’t forget this show started the news zone, over 254 people have come through here and are now making careers. Please our colleagues, no comment. I am not going to respond to any of the messages they send me. […] Above all we should serve the needs of the station and not our personal ambitions. If we manage to avoid that, then the relationship between you and me and those who succeed me when they succeed me will be even better. Thank you very much”, Giorgos Papadakis concluded in his statement.

A little while later, the journalist informed the viewers that this decision will be implemented from the middle of the month.
