“The POS-Tame interconnection has succeeded and is a social policy in practice,” said Kostis Hatzidakis

An increase of 10.7% of electronic transactions was recorded in 2024 compared to 2023. This significant increase in electronic transactions- from 61.1 billion to EUR 67.7 billion- was mainly recorded in the second half of the previous year when the interconnection of the POS With cash registers, a flagship task of dealing with tax evasion that brings significant benefits to citizens and businesses. Through the interconnection, the corresponding document through the cash registers is issued for all electronic transactions via POS, resulting in no revenue and thus significantly limiting tax evasion.

It is noteworthy that in 2024 there was an increase in tax revenue beyond the target of 2 billion euros, which was due to both the POS-Tamens interconnection and the extension of the implementation of the Mydata system for businesses. These additional resources returned to citizens through the reduction of taxes and contributions, reinforcement of income, as well as the Public Investment Program.

According to the EIA, the Minister of National Economy and Finance Kostis Hatzidakis said: “The € 6.6 billion increase in 2024 is the most powerful proof that POS interconnection with cash registers has succeeded in contributing decisively to the restriction of tax evasion. This reform enhances the sense of justice and equal competition between businesses and at the same time increasing tax revenue that can be directed to either supporting social policy or further tax cuts. It is therefore a social policy in practice that came to stay! “

More specifically, below are some sectors with a large increase in electronic transactions in 2024 compared to 2023:

– Car drinkers (from 11.2 million to 80.2 million euros)- an increase of 614%.

– Children’s care services (from 13.6 million to 71.1 million euros) – 433%increase.

-Clock and jewelry repair services (from 1 million to 4.6 million) -Ard 348%.

– Lieutenants (from 11.3 million to EUR 45 million)- 299%increase.

– Taxi (from 26.5 million to 79 million euros)- 196%increase.

– Photographs, graphic arts (from 2.2 million to 4.1 million euros)- an increase of 86%.

-Clear-seats (from 11.5 million to EUR 16.3 million) an increase of 41%.

– Institution (from € 5.9 billion to EUR 6.6 billion)- 12.5%increase.

– Gataries (from 357 million to EUR 392 million)- 10%increase.

For 2025, the implementation of 4 more digital reforms of the Tax Mechanism is being implemented with the aim of further restricting tax evasion. As early as the beginning of the year, the universal use of Mydata has been implemented to declare business revenue and businesses, and the digital clientele, a digital shipping note and the universal expansion of the electronic invoice will be implemented.
