What determines the choices of citizens according to the analysts of the travel website
Popular destinations in Spain and Greece dominate searches for flights from June to August 2024, according to Skyscanner.
The survey was conducted on searches by citizens of countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). More than half (53%) of citizens in the EMEA region choose Europe for travel and holidays, an increase of 4% compared to 2023. Southeast Asia is also seeing an increase in popularity. Analysts attribute these choices to the trend for proximity of the destination to the place of residence, but also to the search for affordable destinations.
Average trip durations are also slightly down or flat year-over-year for many popular destinations. According to tornosnews.gr, as the heads of Skyscanner point out, the findings of the survey reveal a travel landscape that is both familiar and evolving, while traditional seasonality is returning and popular destinations remain in demand, travelers are also looking for value and exploring options closer to home.
All Skyscanner searches recorded incredible demand at the start of the year, which is expected to continue as we head into summer, especially in regions such as Europe, North America and North Asia.
