The actress will turn 93 in December
The singer, actress and dancer Rita Moreno will be 93 in December, but is still considering a return to the stage.
“I don’t miss it all the time, but sometimes I do,” the Puerto Rican-born American actress told Variety.
“I listen to music through Alexa all the time because I love music and I love jazz. Every once in a while I start singing along and performing the song and saying to myself, “I think you’re missing this.” There’s always a chance I’ll do it again. I mean, the song, you can do it. You can’t dance. My knees are just crying out for help,” he said.
“I love acting,” added Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony winner Rita Moreno.
Moreno will in a few days be honored with the Indalma Award at the annual gala of the Museum of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles. Quentin Tarantino and Paul Mescal will be honored during the ceremony.
“I have no idea what that means. Retirement;” answers the question if he has thought about when to retire.
“As long as I can make people laugh or make them cry as a performer, no, I’m not leaving. But not only that, I love what I do. And I love actors. I love artists. When I meet someone I admire, I get this stupid look of admiration on my face. It’s genuine,” he said.
“I’ll give you an example. My daughter Fernanda Luisa Gordon and I went to the Vanity Fair Oscar party last year. We were walking and I see Lenny Kravitz and I said to Fernanda, “Let’s go say hi.” What I usually do then is say, “Hi. I admire your work. I’m Rita Moreno. What are you doing?” I never assume people know who I am. He kneels. And not only that, but he stays there and hugs my knees. And he says, “You have no idea.” And he went on about how much he admires me and my work and how much I mean to his people. And he holds my hand and kisses it” said the actress and singer, according to APE BEE.
Rita Moreno stated that she wants to work with Julianne Moore and her Emma Stone. “It surprises us. When an actress can do that, when an actress surprises you, that’s the best,” he pointed out.
Commenting on the US presidential election, Rita Moreno said that it is amazing how much Kamala Harris has achieved in such a short time and referring to Donald Trump she said that “he is the personification of evil”. I don’t believe this man and his minions, I think they are mentally ill,” he asserted.
