They will see increases in their salaries after 14 years public servants. The additional amount will reach 70 euros per month in the gross basic salaries that will be received from January 1, 2024 by approximately 663,000 employees and civil servants, as the provisions of Law 5045/2023 will come into force on the changes in the payroll public sector.

Among the interventions to boost citizens’ incomes, the increase in salaries of civil servants, with the average annual increase reaching 1,476 euros.

Increases in their salaries are also seen by pensioners by approximately 3%, while employees and pensioners with children will have a larger tax deduction due to an increase in the tax-free limit by 1,000 euros. At the same time, budget expenditures for health are increasing by 485 million euros and for education by 255 million euros, resources that will come from the new measures to combat tax evasion, according to MEGA.

Civil servants: Salary increases from 1/1/2024

  • Basic salary: horizontal + €70/month (€840/year)
  • Position of responsibility allowances: + 30%
  • New Child Benefit: €70-220 (From the increase of €20 to €50)

For Armed Forces, Security Forces

  • Special circumstances allowance: +€15
  • Border allowance: +30%

From 100 -> 130 euros.

The new wages for new entrants, without a child

Education 2023 – 2024

  • Mandatory 780 euros – 850 euros
  • Secondary 858 euros – 928 euros
  • Technological 1,037 euros – 1,107 euros
  • University 1,092 euros – 1,162 euros

Civil servant with 2 children

Technological education, 3rd level

  • Before the increase: 1,217 euros (1,147 euros + 70 euros)
  • From 1/1/2024: 1,337 euros (+70 euros in the nominal salary, +50 euros in the family allowance)

Benefit: 120 euros/month or 1,440 euros/year.

Example

Army lieutenant colonel with 2 children

Basic salary increase: +840 euros/year

Family benefit: +600 euros/year

Allowance for special working conditions: +180 euros/year

Position of responsibility allowance: +144 euros/year

Border allowance: +360 euros/year

Total annual benefit 2,124 euros gross or 1,316 euros net

Tolls are increasing from January 1

Athens – Thessaloniki: from 31.35 euros -> 33.73 euros (+2.38 euros)

Athens – Patras: from 11.80 euros -> 12.60 euros (+0.80 euros)

Athens – Kalamata: from 13.95 euros -> 15.01 euros (+1.06 euros)

Athens – Ioannina (via Rio-Antirrio bridge): from 38.25 euros -> 41 euros (+2.75 euros) (7.2% increase)

Athens – Trikala (via E65): from 17.95 euros -> 19.35 euros (+1.40) (7.6% increase).
