Who will see money in their accounts?
The list of those who will see an increase in their disposable income in December and around the Christmas and New Year period will be quite long. This money comes either from permanent or from extraordinary interventions that have already been announced by the government and will be implemented in the immediate future.
Among those who will see their income supported, in order, as reported by the government, to mitigate the effects of punctuality to the extent that the country’s fiscal situation allows, as the Athens News Agency points out, are public servants and retirees, who will be paid their January salaries in advance, since the increases that have been announced will have been incorporated into their salaries.
18 and 19-year-olds who will receive for the first time the newly introduced youth pass, the heating allowance, the extension for market pass 2 which are entitled to those who live in areas affected by the summer fires, but also the September floods, the beneficiaries of the minimum guaranteed income and of course all those, approximately 2.3 million taxpayers, who are beneficiaries of the social solidarity allowance that recently announced.
Who and when will receive extra money in their accounts
1. Public servants: About 660,000 civil servants, after 14 years, will receive from 1-1-2024 increases in their salaries. All basic salaries are increased by 70 euros with the highest earners being the public servants who hold positions of responsibility as well as those with children who will see an additional increase in their income due to the 30% increase in the position of responsibility allowance and the amounts of family allowance for each child. For the first child the allowance is increased by 20 euros (from 50 today to 70 euros) while those who have two or more children will see their allowance increased by 50 euros. With the new payroll, the average annual benefit per employee amounts to 2,084 euros gross or 1,476 euros net. The payment of the increased wages will take place on the last 10 days of December.
2. Pensioners: The 3% increase (from 25 to 60 euros per month gross depending on the amount of the pension) will be received by approximately 1,800,000 pensioners without a personal difference or with a personal difference of less than 10 euros. An estimated 1.5 million of these will receive the full 3% increase while 300,000 will receive part of the increase as it will be offset against the personal difference amount. The payment of the increased pensions will take place before Christmas.
3. Heating allowance: The first payment will be made by December 22, 2023 and will concern applications made by November 30, 2023, provided that the documents are registered by December 8, 2023.
4. Market pass: Residents – who are beneficiaries – from the affected areas will also receive a benefit for the months of November and December 2023. The process will be automatic and with the same criteria and conditions. The payment will be made on December 20, while for those who make new applications the payment will be made later.
5. Youth Pass: Its beneficiaries will be able until Tuesday, December 5 Youth Pass, to submit their applications for the financial aid of 150 euros. Beneficiaries are approximately 200,000 young beneficiaries aged 18 and 19. The amount will be credited to you via a digital debit card which can be used in businesses active in the fields of culture, tourism and transport. The credit will be done by December 10th.
6. Minimum guaranteed income: Beneficiaries of the minimum guaranteed income, approximately 210,000 will receive from December a permanent increase of 8%.
7. Minimum guaranteed income: The benefit will be given this year to 2.3 million citizens, with income criteria before Christmas, with a total cost of 352 million euros. Beneficiaries, the families who collect the OPECA child allowance and will receive a 150% increase in the amount of the monthly allowance for December. Pensioners with earnings of up to 700 euros, without personal difference, will receive 150 euros. People with disabilities who collect the OPECA disability allowance will receive 200 euros. And finally, beneficiaries of the Guaranteed Minimum Income will get a 50% increase in the allowance they receive. It will be awarded before Christmas.
