“The indictment has reasonable gaps,” Kassidiaris said – MPs denied the accusation
The exemption of the defendants in the trial of “Spartans” who is accused of deceiving an electorate with a moral perpetrator, Elias Kassidiaris, the Prosecutor of the First Criminal Crimes called for.
The prosecutor expressed the position that from the hearing “it was not proven by any evidence of a voter”. “There is no evidence of voters or at least the number of voters supposedly deceived,” the prosecutor said in a speech, while noting that the 11 defendants, former and current MPs, had not been selected by Elias Kassidiaris but by Vassilis Stikas.
“The percentage of the party is due to the support of Elias Kassidiaris but this is not a deception of the voters,” the prosecutor said, reiterating that there is no voter complaint that he was deceived.
The defendants, in their apologies, denied the charges of deceiving voters, stressing that they had no plan to overturn the party’s president and in no way received instructions from their co -defendant, Elias Kassidiaris.
In his apology, Elias Kassidiaris argued that he chose to support the Spartans because he wanted the party to get a good result. “There were my own voters who wanted to vote for me and their government refused this right … We came to an election result that I celebrated on the night of the election … If I lost the right to participate, I gave support to a party.” He said while speaking about the reports that there was intention to overthrow Vasilis Stiga, Elias Kassidiaris argued that they “had reasonable gaps”.
“This plan described in the indictment that I supported a president to overthrow him because I didn’t want him has reasonable gaps. Why do I do this and not support from the beginning the one I want? ” He said to the court.
Referring to the visits he had received in prisons by lawyers, Elias Kassidiaris argued that they wanted to take over. “TV was playing me from morning till night. The lawyers saw and it is legitimate to want to take over me. ” He stressed.
For his part, the accused lawyer who appears to meet Elias Kassidiaris in prison said that “it is derogatory what I said I was doing so many kilometers to go to Domokou prisons to give me commands”.
Earlier, the Spartan chief Vasilis Stykas testified to the court, who was also the only witness in the case, who arrived in justice following his reports of backstage and illegal actions, Greek Mafia and “Don Corleone”.
Vasilis Stigas abolished what he had initially claimed against party members, attributing his public statements to the .. he said, as he said, an information he had from extra -parliamentary agents.
