What happened before the tragedy

At 11 p.m. last Friday, in Courts Square, a citizen, after an argument with the 45-year-old, called 100 and reported dangerous driving and aggressive behavior. At approximately 12 o’clock in the evening, the 45-year-old was located and submitted to a breathalyzer, with a percentage of 1.3 mg/lt of alcohol in his blood. The 45-year-old gave the keys to the passenger.

At a quarter past 3 where the group together with the 45-year-old had continued their fun, they went to eat at a restaurant. There the 45-year-old had an argument with his partner, the passenger, and took the car keys.

At 3:30 in the morning, the 45-year-old was behind the wheel again and caused the fatal traffic accident with 22-year-old Panagiotis as a victim.

The 45-year-old man from Chania is being transferred to the Korydallos prison. The authorities rejected the request to remain in Crete.

The chronicle of the traffic accident

It was last Friday night (11/1) in the center of Chania, when Immediate Action received a call from a citizen reporting dangerous driving and aggressive behavior by the 45-year-old driver of a black jeep.

The black jeep was going down Soudas Avenue, while the white SUV in which the 22-year-old was riding was going up.

The fierce collision between the two cars followed, as the black jeep went into the opposite direction and crashed into the 22km vehicle.

After the collision, the car hit two trees and continued its course for about 100-150 meters.

According to information, the driver of the black SUV was speeding and was under the influence of alcohol. Earlier, the 45-year-old had undergone a breathalyzer test.

Anger and many questions are caused by what is known about the 45-year-old driver of the black SUV. Well-known businessman, who was driving without a license as it was revoked three months ago because he was driving under the influence of alcohol again.
