How they avoid the extra service fees of a short-term rental platform
More than two in three Americans (68%) admit they use major short-term rental platforms like Airbnb and Vrbo to find an interesting listing and then look to book directly with the property to avoid extra service fees a platform.
Meanwhile, 3 in 4 said they plan to spend the same or more on travel in 2024, with 73% planning more travel than last year. However, for 92%, price remains the most important factor in choosing an accommodation booking provider and perhaps for this reason, 95% visit several websites before making a final booking decision. These are some of the conclusions of a survey carried out by the website bnbfinder, (includes BNB accommodation, Inns and boutique hotels with no fees) among a sample of 681 adults in the US, during the period from January 24 to February 6, 2024, which is cited by tornosnews.gr.
Americans rated their frustration with service fees on short-term rental platforms as high as 8 on a scale of 1-10. More than 9 out of 10 consider it likely or very likely to use a website that offers some of the same benefits that platforms like Airbnb and Vrbo offer, as long as they don’t have extra fees. The top trends revealed by the survey regarding the vacation rental market are as follows:

The top three reasons for this are the superior level of overall quality and experience (55%), secure online transactions (54%) and ensuring verified and verified listings to protect against misleading or fraudulent vacation rentals (51%).
