87% of citizens believe that the standard of living will deteriorate in the next year

The fact that punctuality is the main problem of Greek citizens, as all polls show, is confirmed by the Eurobarometer survey, as according to the data 8 out of 10 citizens cannot pay their bills.

In a question about the personal standard of living and the financial ability of Greeks, 87% believe that the standard of living will deteriorate in the next year, 12% do not expect any change or impact on the standard of living, while 1% believes that living standards have improved.

At the European level, 73% believe that the standard of living will deteriorate over time, 24% believe that neither change nor impact on their standard of living is expected, 2% believe that their standard of living has improved and 1 % gave no answer.

When asked if Greeks have had difficulties paying their bills in the last year, 50% say they sometimes can’t pay their bills, 36% say most of the time, 14% say they don’t have any difficulties paying them of accounts.

To the same question, 62% of citizens of other member states answer that they do not face problems paying their bills, 28% say that they do from time to time, 9% say that most of the time they have problems managing their finances and 1 % did not answer the question.

Greece is first among the countries with the greatest inability to pay bills

According to the diagram below, the same question was asked of the citizens of the 27 member states of the European Union. Based on their answers, the countries with the least default are Sweden with 6%, Denmark with 7% and Finland with 20%.

On the other hand, the top ten countries with the greatest default are:

  • 86% Greece
  • 64% Portugal
  • 63% Cyprus
  • 59% Bulgaria
  • 57% Italy
  • 57% Romania
  • 55% Ireland
  • 53% Croatia
  • 37% Latvia
  • 36% France

When asked by the Eurobarometer whether in a year from now their standard of living will have improved, 58% of Greeks believe that they will be in a worse situation, 33% believe that the situation will be the same, 7% believe that the level will improve and 2% did not answer the question.

In the corresponding question, 46% of Europeans believe that the situation will be the same, 38% believe that the situation will be worse, 13% believe that things will improve and 3% did not answer the question.

When asked by the Eurobarometer whether in a year from now the national economy will have improved, 66% of Greeks believe that they will be in a worse situation, 24% believe that the situation will be the same, 9% believe that it will situation improved and 1% did not answer the question.

In the corresponding question, 52% of Europeans believe that the situation will be worse, 31% believe that the situation will be the same, 13% believe that the situation will be better and 4% did not answer the question.
