Increase in total passenger traffic 14% compared to 2022 and 13.2% compared to 2019
With a historical record of increase in passenger traffic and flights, 2023 closed for the airports of our country, in relation to the corresponding period of 2022 and 2019.
According to the statistics of the Civil Aviation Service, for all the airports of our country, (Athens “Eleftherios Venizelos” Airport, 24 airports managed by CAA, 14 regional airports managed Fraport Greece), the total number of traveling passengers in the 12 months of 2023 (international and domestic passenger arrivals and departures) reached 72,613,658 compared to 63,672,121 in the corresponding period of 2022 and 64,169,005 passengers in 2019. From the above statistics, it follows a 14% increase in total passenger traffic compared to 2022 and a 13.2% increase compared to 2019.
For the month of December 2023, according to the same data, an increase in passenger traffic is recorded by 16.2% compared to 2022 and by 13.4% compared to 2019, as 2,839,289 were handled in 2023, 2,839,289 were handled in 2022 2,442,727 and in 2019 2,503,206 passengers were transported.

According to the APE BEE, in the field of air traffic, flight statistics for the 12 months of 2023 (January/December 2023, domestic and foreign aircraft arrivals and departures) show that 561,869 flights were made in 2023, compared to 552,492 in 2022 and 526,155 flights in 2019, with total 12-month 2023 air traffic up 1.7% compared to 2022 and up 6.8% compared to 2019.

Also, according to December 2023 flight statistics (domestic and international aircraft arrivals and departures), there were 24,583 flights, compared to 24,200 in 2022 and 23,509 flights in 2019, with air traffic increasing by 1.6%, compared to 2022 and a 4.6% increase compared to 2019.
