At the top of the list is Alonissos, for which the extensive tribute mentions that it “constitutes a “temple” of diving with a heavenly seabed, ancient shipwrecks and an excellent marine ecosystem. The island is equally impressive above the water with pine forests, picturesque villages and fairy-tale houses». Le Figaro’s list is completed by Chios, Kythira, Kefalonia and Patmos.
It is noted that there was an informational effort by the Municipality for promotion in France. “Our goal is to establish ourselves in new markets with remarkable dynamics such as French travelers who in recent years have taken advantage of the new direct flights to Sporades to enjoy different aspects of Alonissos such as activities, absolute relaxation, local cuisine and sightseeing”, points out the President of the Tourist Committee of the Municipality of Alonissos, Konstantinos Chlivas. In the same spirit, Alonissos has recently been the focus of interest from the German newspaper Die Welt, which calls the island “an ideal place for nature lovers” and ranks it at the top of the Greek destinations that will stand out in 2024.
