About 60 million passengers were transported from January to September
Passenger traffic for all of the country’s airports (Eleftherios Venizelos, 24 CAA-managed airports, 14 regional airports) was up both for this September and for the nine months of 2023, compared to the corresponding period of 2022 and of 2019.
According to the statistics of the Civil Aviation Service, this year’s September recorded an increase in passenger traffic by 9.3% compared to 2022 and by 13.9% compared to 2019, as 9,710,481 were handled in 2023, in 2022 8,881,695 were handled and in 2019 8,523,771 passengers were handled.
In particular, for the nine months of the year 2023 in Greece (January/September 2023) the total number of passengers traveling at airports (arrivals and departures of foreign and domestic passengers) reached 59,901,542, compared to 52,670,370 in the corresponding period of 2022 and 53,418,973 passengers in 2019. From the above statistics, there is a 13.7% increase in passenger traffic compared to 2022 and a 12.1% increase compared to 2019.
In terms of flight statistics (domestic and international aircraft arrivals and departures) September 2023 there were 70,763 flights, compared to 70,142 in 2022 and 64,906 flights in 2019, with air traffic increasing by 0.9%, compared to 2022 and an increase of 9.0% compared to 2019. Flight statistics for the nine months of the year 2023 (January/September 2023) show that there were 459,949 flights in 2023, compared to 453,279 in 2022 and 433,320 flights in 2019, with the airline nine-month 2023 traffic to be up 1.5% compared to 2022 and up 6.1% compared to 2019.
