Which roads will be closed?
Due to the sporting event “IRONMAN MARATHON 70.3 GREECE” on Sunday, the following traffic arrangements will be made in Marathon.
– Temporary, gradual and complete stoppage of vehicle traffic, as well as prohibition of their stopping and parking, with the exception of accompanying vehicles and emergency vehicles on the road network below:
* Schinia St., in the section between Kato Souliou St. and the entrance of the Olympic Rowing Track and in the two (2) traffic streams, during the hours 07:00-14:00.
* Schinia Street, in the section between the entrance of the Olympic Rowing Track and the entrance for the Courts and in the two (2) traffic streams, during the hours 07:00-14:00.
* Kato Souliou St., in the section between Schinia St. and Marathonos St. and in the two (2) traffic streams, during the hours 07:00-14:00.
* Kato Souliou St., in the section between Schinia St. and the junction with Mikras Asia and Konstantinoupoleos streets and in both (2) traffic streams, during the hours 07:00-12:15.
* Posidonos Street, in the section between the entrance of the Olympic Rowing Track and Marathon Beach and in both (2) traffic streams, during the hours 07:00-15:50.
* Posidonos Street, in the section between Nereos Street and Agios Konstantinou Street and in the two (2) traffic streams, during the hours 07:00-17:00.
* Agios Panteleimonos, in the section between Marathona Beach and Phidippidou Street and in the two (2) traffic streams, during the hours 07:00-16:30.
* Phidippidou, in the section between Agios Panteleimonos Street and Plutarchou Street and in the two (2) traffic streams, during the hours 07:00-16:30.
* Plutarchou, along its entire length, during the hours 07:00-16:30.
* Golden Coast, along its entire length, during the hours 07:00-16:50.
* By water, throughout its length, during the hours 07:00-16:50.
* Marathonos Street, in the section between Marathon Road’s Starting Point and Chrys Street. Smyrni (1st entrance N. Voutza) in the traffic flow towards Athens, during the hours 07:30-13:15.
* Marathonos Street, in the section between Chrys Street. Smyrni (1st entrance N. Voutza) and the Marathon Road starting point in the direction of Marathon, during the hours 08:00-13:45.
* Agia Paraskevi (Marathon Tomb), along its entire length, during the hours 08:15-13:35.
* Kallinikou, in the section between Marathonos Street up to the Marathon Tomb and in both (2) traffic streams, during the hours 08:15-13:35.
* Agios Panteleimonos, in the section between Marathon Tomb and Agia Paraskevi street and in both (2) traffic streams, during the hours 08:15-13:35.
– Designation of Exclusive Vehicle Traffic Lanes for the traffic – serving permanent residents, businesses and Services, as well as for the traffic of emergency vehicles as follows:
* Left traffic lane of Schinia Street, in the section between Kato Souliou Street and the entrance of the Olympic Rowing Track and in both (2) traffic streams.
* Section of pavement between the two (2) traffic lanes of Schinia Street, in the section between the entrance of the Olympic Rowing Track and the entrance for the Courts.
* Left traffic lane of Kato Souliou Street, in the section between Schinia Street and Marathonos Street and in both (2) traffic streams.
* Left-hand traffic lane of Marathonos Street, in the section between Marathon Road Start and Chrys Street. Smyrni (1st entrance N. Voutza) and in both (2) traffic streams.
* Posidonos Street, in the section between the entrance of the Olympic Rowing Track and Marathon Beach in the traffic flow towards Athens.
* Posidonos Street, in the section between Nereos Street and Agios Konstantinou Street in the traffic flow towards Athens.
* Agios Panteleimonos Street, in the section between Marathon Beach and Phidippidou Street in the traffic flow towards Athens.
* Right traffic lane of Marathonos Street in the traffic flow towards Marathon as a counterflow lane (reverse flow) in the section between Kefallinias Street and Phidippidou Street, for the athletes’ transport buses.
Ø Diversions of vehicle traffic and movement of other vehicles, through the following alternative routes as follows:
* Vehicle traffic towards Marathon beach front: Marathonos L. – right Flemig L. (Rafina Rd.) – left Dimokratias – Poseidonos L. – left M. Asias – right Ag. Andreas – L. Poseidonos.
* Vehicle traffic towards Marathon towards Dionysos St. and Ag. Ephraim: L. Marathonos left Chr. Smyrni (1st Entrance N. Voutza) – Tychis – left Paradisos – right R. Feraiou – left K. Krystalli – left Taygetou – right M. Katraki – left Kolokotroni – left Peripatou – right Oneiron – right Street 102 – left Street 159 – Street 157 – N. Rota – right ‘Anokis.
* Vehicular movement from Penteli to Nea Makri: Dionysos St. – right of Anikosos – V. Rota – Chr. Smyrni (1st Entrance N. Voutza).
* Vehicle traffic Penteli to Marathon: Dionysos St. – left Artemisos – left E. Panagopoulos – left Plataion – left Avlonos – Panos Cave.
The Traffic Authority appeals to the drivers of the vehicles, for the smooth conduct of the race and the prevention of traffic problems, to avoid the traffic of their vehicles on the above streets and boulevards and to follow the instructions of the traffic wardens.
