According to the PNO, the strike on coastal shipping vessels in all categories begins at 00.01 in the morning and ends at 24.00 of the same day, with a central request to deal with the housing crisis, the restoration of collective labor law as well as the reduction of purchasing power of the workers. “The Greek Seafarers, due to the particularity of the maritime profession, are among the first to face the effects of all of the above, because they are the only ones who, in the best case, work 5 to 6 months a year in order to live for themselves and their families them throughout the year”, emphasizes the Panhellenic Maritime Federation in its announcement.

It also points out its firm and stable position for the safety of maritime transport and the protection of human life at sea by demanding the establishment of increased organic compositions and a new legislative framework that meet the current needs of ships and seafaring in order to fully ensure the human working conditions and above all the safety of ships, passengers and crew.
