“I think it is very lucky to have a family, whether through adoption or in any other way,” said the partner of the president of the Democracy Movement when asked about it
Tyler McBeth expressed his belief that his partner Stefanos Kasselakis will one day become the prime minister of Greece, speaking on the “Smile Again” show.
Initially, the husband of the president of the Democracy Movement referred to the developments of this year, stressing that it was a frantic course. “Stefanos Kasselakis led the opposition in less than a month, so it was indeed a year with many difficulties in all aspects. But as we move forward and take stock of last year I think we both learned a lot both personally and professionally. We learned a lot about ourselves, but we stayed true to ourselves.” The husband of Stefanos Kasselakis revealed to Sissy Christidou that both of them were quite grounded from the beginning.
Regarding the media frenzy surrounding the face of Stefanos Kasselakis, with the cameras following their every step and movement, Tyler McBeth stated that he did not expect it to take such a dimension. “We expected things like this to happen, but you never know exactly what’s going to happen because we’re foreigners and very fresh in this country. Stefanos came to the political scene almost uninvited and then all the attention turned to him,” he said. “We both had the desire to fight for our goals from the beginning. And as we have said with Stefanos, he knew that he has many chances to succeed and I believed in him. I had told him ‘if you decide to run for president of SYRIZA, we should be sure that we want to do it, because at that moment I believed that he would win and all this would last’ he added.
Tyler McBeth said he is ready to stay permanently in Greece. “I always see myself as a chameleon, whether in America or anywhere else. I enjoy the challenge. I am 33 years old and Stefanos is 36. We are young, it is the right time to make big, bold decisions and make sacrifices to do innovative things,” he said. Regarding his business activity and the gym he is about to open, he revealed that it was already in the works before Stefanos Kasselakis entered politics.
“I think it’s very lucky to have a family, whether through adoption or any other way. No doubt family is very important to both of us and is something we both want to achieve in our lives. At the moment I don’t know exactly how it will happen, but in the long run we definitely see ourselves in one family” he answered when asked about it.
“From the beginning they did not accept him in SYRIZA”
“Now that I see what happened last year, I understand that there was a moment in SYRIZA that they did not want to understand and digest what had happened in the last two national elections, which led Stefanos to the position of president. Therefore, I am not sure that they had really accepted and realized that they had a new leader and that the base of the party had decided that they wanted a new perception of the party. From the beginning they had not accepted him in the position of party leader,” he said.
“And the party had not made its self-critical report with the losses they had in the last two national elections. For me all this was not a surprise and we had talked extensively about this subject between us. The party continued to have objections, the base had a different view and desire, and these two never coincided and we saw all that led to the establishment of a new party,” he added.
As Tyler McBeth stated, in the moments when Stefanos Kasselakis feels down, he encourages him and helps him realize his worth. “I am sure that Stefanos Kasselakis can and will one day become the next prime minister”, he added and then revealed that he never entered politics himself.
“When I first met him…”
If he had to describe Stefanos Kasselakis in one word, it would be “resilient”. “When I first met him I was blown away by his unique character and the better I get to know him the more intrigued and enamored I am,” said Tyler McBeth. Finally, he emphasized that now Stefanos Kasselakis feels more renewed as president of the “Movement of Change” and outside of SYRIZA, noting that the party acted as a cannibal and prevented him from showing his political talent.
